I don't follow Stanton's blog of the same name, but often see some of his posts floating around on Facebook. When this book came into the store, it looked pretty interesting, and I took it home one weekend, when it was extremely cold, thinking I'd curl up on the couch and flip through some of it. But I ended up reading the entirety of the book. For those who don't know, the book is a collection of photographs of various people on the streets in New York City, accompanied by a short quote - sometimes just a sentence, sometimes a few paragraphs - from the subject. The photos are lovely, and the text really reveals that everyone has a story to tell. And the stories are variously funny, sad, heart-breaking, inspiring, and enlightening. This is not the type of book I would normally buy for myself, but I'm really glad I read it.
